View Full Version : Chaos and Blood

I need to extract a fairly large amount of blood as I am creating a chaosphere. I have a 21 gage syringe and some rubbing alchohol. I have never taken blood from myself in such a way and was wondering if there are any easier/less painful ways of going about it. I have read all about extracting blood while using a syringe, but am unsure if this is unwise.
Yes, I am afriad of kneedles, but as this is magical work I am more than ready to conquer that fear.
Does anyone have any techniques for aquiring a fairly large amount of ones own blood in an easy, effective and relatively painless manner?

.... you could find a Nurse or a Blood Bank to help you in your needs ?? you need someone that knows what their doing to help you, if you take too much, you could pass out and keep draining blood  i've done flesh offerings, tho always with someone to help in my offering of flesh, please take care and be safe >>> Don

its easy to bruise blood vessels and cause major UGLY internal bleeding and you wont even get a drop out for all your effort, lol... you could be lucky and intuitive, but i still i still would recommend going with a pro. collapsing a vein is not a good idea mid-ritual... it can cause problems for years too.
if you insist to do it yourself i recommend phlebotomy & venipuncture lessons first.
sometimes you can find free 1-2 day classes from your local ROP (scary that anyone could be certified that fast but whatever...)

What is a chaossphere, and why does it require such a freakin' big needle?

Chaosphere: http://www.sacred-texts.com/bos/bos281.htm
Other than blood other ingredients include clay, nail clippings, urine, semen, tears and spit. This is simply to create a massive amount of life force within the very substance of the chaosphere.
A 21 gauge needle is the smallest type necessary for extracting blood, its tiny really. The only other option I can think about is just going ahead and using a sharp knife and cut my arm.
Does anyone know how to safely induce a noise bleed?

Heh, I know. Body-piercings aside, I just don't like needles, so even small ones are huge to me ;)

I know the feeling...

Dude, seriously, just get a lancet for a small amount of blood if you feel that blood will make an impact on producing the chaosphere (hint: it's options, as are the rest of the bodybits).
Unless you're planning on taking up Plebotomy there's no good reason to be keeping that syringe around.

We realise that these things depend on your own symbol-logic but we have rarely seen the need for such large amounts of blood in a magical process. In our experience it has always appeared that intent and belief act as keys, as such small amounts of blood have sufficed.
But as we have said, it is your symbol-logic and of course, your chaosphere.

I'll second C426 - the main thing is using that fear of needles, facing and overcoming it, in pursuit of your enchantment. The self-preservation instinct is a powerful thing. It is really difficult for most people to cut themselves on purpose. If it isn't difficult then it is not apt to be magically useful.
I also have to second Zcree and Vulnera here. If you intend to do this, do it safely, with medical training or supervision.

I understand and agree with you all. I do not need a copious amount of blood, just a sufficient amount, I may just cut myself on a part of my body normally covered. I have several syringes for filming purposes, the one I may use is still sealed. I just dont like the idea of having a big cut on me that people may notice so a needle seemed like a good idea.
Thank you all for your responces. I will be creating my chaosphere soonish and I will keep you posted :)

Just flex your forearm repeatedly till the blood's pumping and find the biggest blue vein on your arm. Then you go in at a nearly horizontal angle, just past the skin and you'll feel a tiny bit of resistance, poke BARELY into it and draw a little bit and the syringe almost fills it's self.
Eh, my mom was a med student when I was a kid. Then again I have veins that a one eyed man with blurred vision could find without any trouble. (Heh, if a nurse puts a band on my arm I decline cause she has to have no clue what she's doing.)

.... the finger is the safest place to get blood ;) if ya need a little flesh for your Ceremony, take a needle and pick the skin up on your arm, then cut a small chuck of skin off with a razor or sharp knife  the Creator loves flesh & blood offerings :D take care, be safe >>> Don

Your safest blood drawing option.

Thank you very much Skeptismo118, I had heard of lancets, but I assumed they were only prescribed to people with blood disorders like diabetes. I assume they are available at chemists and so I shall most definitley be buying one.
Thank you all again for your posts.

lancets work... relatively painless too. but you wont get very much blood as they dont go very deep.
i personally like various thorns and spines for bloodletting use
roses work well, cactus, spines from various plants and trees..

Well I hope we all enjoyed the Lunar eclipse! Unfortunatley I was working throughout the majority of it, but thankfully I was let off early. On walking home I thought that I wasnt going to get another chance like this for magical work for a long time and so I ran home and gathered up all my tools.
The aim was to, finally, charge/create my chaosphere. I've just got in now and started spray painting it matt black.
While sitting in an open field under the clear night, I faced the alter towards the eclipsed moon. I placed the chaosphere at the centre of the triangle and ignited a ton of lunar incense, banished and charged it. I used a lancet to get some blood (it was relativley painless thankfully!) and smeared the fluid all over its surface.
I visualised an 8 rayed star spinning rappidly before me over the triangle, then I mentally implanted this within the physical chaosphere. I then visualised all the main colours used in the 8 colour system of chaosmagic saturating its very fiber, all the way down to the atomic level and beyond until I could no longer visualise.
Death posture was then initiated while visualising the energies of the universe converging into the essence of the chaosphere and the portal to the empyrean was opened.
I then closed the rite, packed up and came home.
Good nights work for something I thought up at the last minute. Magic always seems better when its spur of the moment :)
