LONDON (Reuters) - A mythical and ghostly creature has appeared in the wilds of the Scottish Highlands -- and has been caught on camera.

The rare white stag, from the red deer species, is believed to be among just a tiny handful living in Britain, according to a conservation group.

I'd love to see such a magical beast. But I actually wish that those folks had kept quiet about it. There will be idiots out there combing the hills with their guns, trying to get it as a trophy. Unless they all fall down and break their legs. Bad luck take anyone who tries to kill a white stag.

This is the sad part:

The last official recording of a white red stag in Britain, not to be confused with the more common white fallow deer, was last October when the body of one was found decapitated on the moors between Devon and Cornwall.

Interesting. I wonder why they are so rare? That region in the winter would be ideal for a white stag.

I suppose the operative word in your post journey is "wonder" and when you loose the ability to wonder then life become commonplace.

Maybe they are rare becasue no one really believes in them any more. IMHO I consider the unicorn exists as well as striped penguins, yeti and this splendidly magical white stag.
