Moonlit - Short Story

There is a little lesson here. I will post it on the bottom.

Naught but the moon light and the fading glow of burning cigarette butts lighted the nighttime pavement. The lamps had turned off during a power outage from an earlier rain shower damaging the circuits.
A young and somewhat deliquent teenager of seventeen was walking down this said street. He, named Day (short for Dayle), checked his watch and saw it was ten minutes to midnight. He replaced his arm slowly by his side as to make sure not to break the bottle he held clenched in his fist. This bottle was nearly full of what Day termed "His Personal Holy Water". His other fist was clenched around the handle of an umbrella which was composed of maple-imitated plastic, the bar of this umbrella layed on the right shoulder of Day, It had been his only means of shelter from the rough downpour earlier.
Day walked free of care, slighty drunk but stable, down the moonlit street. His placed slowed as he came to a junction of sorts created by the addition of an alley way to his left. He walked straight on, he saw a glimpse of a lit cigarette and soon his eyes came to meet those of a tall man, with a rough and grizzly beard being visible to the little light present, Day soon brought his attention back to his walk home but not before he caught the glimpse of another figure sitting on the ground at the side of the alley. As soon as Day passed the alley he pulled out a tissue from his leather jacket and blew his nose, the sound of it muffling his hearing while doing so. When finished he let the tissue fall to the ground and regained his stance a little.

"Why?"

Day heard a voice of a strong but undefinable accent, as he was about to take a step forward, coming from somewhere behind him.

"B...Be..coz"

Day heard a second voice, one that was shaking and worrying in reply to the rough accent. Day took a few steps back and turned to face the alley way he just passed a few moments ago. There he saw the tough rough looking man bearing an angry face to the slender shaking figure that Day had seen backed up the wall. It was apparent who each of the voices belonged too.
"Because!" Day roared fiercly "You aren't worth it"
The two had not noticied Day until now. The rough man dropped the slender male, who fled back to a side of the alley way and chose to hide behind a row of waste recycle bins. The rough man took no notice of the slender persons escape attempt and moved forward to face Day head on.
So the two stood there in the alley way, which had now graciously been shared some of the light of the full moon. The differences were very noticeble in light, the rough man seemed to be made of only muscle piled six foot high whereas Day was nothing but skin and bones reaching to a mere five foot six only with the addition of a bag full of more bottles of holy water.

"Who are you?" asked Day

"I'm Riskov" answered the intimidating man

"....(Fake)" Day whispered in his own thoughts.
Day knew that he should have been mightly terrified of this man but their was a confidence surging in him that he didn't recogonise. He atrributed this surge to the small amount of alcohol in his system.

Riskov bent down on his knees, now staring intently at Day. Day simply stood there, bracing him, clenching his fists ever tighter then before. Riskov charged at him, racing through a puddle with water splashing everywhere as he came closer and closer to Day, Day clenched his fist tight around his Holy Water and brought it right up into Riskovs face, the bottle smashing off his toughened cheek, the impact making Riskov lose his orientation and fall back into a puddle, with a mix of rain water and Days holy water falling onto his face.
Day had moved to the side in an attempt to avoid any shards of his bottle flying into his own face and had now discarded his bottle or what was left of it, the impact breaking everything but the part of the neck that Days fist was clenched tight around. As Riskov began to regain his balance, Day brought his left hand up to his umbrella and retracted the canopy onto the bar. He tightened his grip around the the handle of the steel umbrella and brought it up into the air before striking Riskov who nearly once again lost his balance but he managed to stay up straight and he struck back at the umbrella. Riskov somehow managed to avoid much of the umbrella and pushed Day back into the wall of the Alley where Day had seen his enemy smoke just a few minutes ago. Day however ran around Riskov and with a much furious slashing and stabbing with the umbrella he back Riskov by the wall. Riskov moved his hand to do what seemed like was stopping the umbrella with awful depth perception but suddenly Riskov grabbed Days umbrella fiercly and angrily threw it to the ground to reveal a metallic glock handgun. Day froze with shock and fear, the bar in this fight had been raised.
"So? Now then! Whos not worth it?" Riskov said with his green eyes glaring.
Day still frozen with shock couldn't reply.

"Lets make this interesting shall we? Drop your bag"
Day took off his bag and dropped it to the ground, he heard the smashing of many beer bottles and the rush of the alcohol around his bag.

"Good boy" said Riskov still aiming the glock straight at Days chest.

"Lets see what else we should do! Strip!"

Day moved his hands down to his belt and unstrapped it with his awfully loose jeans, which fell to his feet the moment the belt was free, much to the amusement of Riskov.

"Thats right humillate yourself" Riskov started laughing.

Riskov wasn't laughing for long, he soon became silent as he was hit by a waste recycle bin which was pushed by the slender male who had hid behind the same bin earlier. Day took his chance to jump out of his jeans and ontop of the bin with his belt still clutched in his hand, He first striked the hand that bore Riskovs glock handgun, which fell and took a shot through the bin. Day wasn't finished there though, he brought up his belt and striked Riskov repeatdly and unrelenting, each strike harder then the last, he was making sure to bruise as much of Riskov as he could.

Riskov now belted and lying under a waste recycle bin panted heavily, his hand was trying to reach his glock but it had been spun out too far away. Day had stopped beating Riskov and Thanked the Slender man before tell him to run to get Day's bag. Day then jumped off the bin to where Riskov gun lay. He picked it up and aimed it at Riskov's head.

"My first answer was my final answer! Your still the worthless one" Day informed Riskov.

Riskov began to beg Day to let him go but Day seemed to ignore the pleas and bent down to reach into Riskovs pocket and pull out a pack of cigarettes and a no brand lighter. He placed the cigarette carefully into Riskovs mouth and lit it for him. He then moved back up and threw the rest of them away. The slender man had returned now and was holding up Days backpack which was dripping wet with alcohol, Day opened it up and saw it was still something like half full with alcohol, he poured all of it onto Riskovs body and the top half of his face.
He left the bag onto of Riskovs chest and he walked to the entrance of the alley guiding the worried man, When at the entrace, He turned around and shot the glock just over the wall and soon he saw a blazing fire had started behind the recycle bin.

Lesson:
Alot of common objects could be used as Weapons with some innovation. I hope you enjoyed this over all though.

Also, I'm not sure if my idea of mixing Alcohol and fire is actually properly correct or not.

For an Aspiring author I really don't write enough, So all advice is not only welcome but encouraged as well.

Enjoyed that - it held my attention and I wasn't second guessing it, just going with it - always a good sign.

On the alcohol burning question, normally alcoholic drinks won't flame unless 80 proof or 40% alcohol by volume (too much water)... so beer is unlikely to burst into flame but strong spirits might (am showing my chemistry geek-ness here!)... so, if you wanted to be more realistic you could change the beer to Day stocking up on vodka maybe? Am sure many wouldn't notice this detail though :-)

Nice read.

Ah well I think I was always calling it alcohol/Holy Water anyway and only mentioned beer once. So I guess I was kind of right. =P.

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.

Actually, you said wine. I saw many errors in your story, and I don't see why day called the other guy worthless. And a belt is not much of a weapon. Seriously, when my mom whipped me with a belt all I did was laugh at her until she stormed out of my room. Even if you hit someone with the buckle, it will only piss them off. Overall, I wouldn't read that story again and would advise you to have an english major go over it with you so you can learn some things.

I never said Wine! Blasphemy lol!.

Yeah, I was re-reading some things, some awful spelling/grammer mistakes.

As for a belt being a weapon, it would vary on various things (1. Its material, 2. Where your striking and the toughness of the other person).

Learn some things? Such as...........? (Since you obviously think said things are there, I would only deem it polite to point out said things).

As for Day was calling the Riskov worthless, it was implied that Riskov was bullying the other guy and hence Riskov was worthless in Days opinion.

I have a feeling you might be being intentionally cruel here but your the first bit of actual criticisim. So Thanks!
