Forest Breath and Qryztufre's Wedding!

I have been thinking about my wedding a lot lately. Chris and I have been engaged now for uh….going on 2 years! Actually it will be 2 years in September. I cannot believe that….2 years! I often hear, “when are you getting married?”. It is weird. I have not really thought about it. We live together and life is just as it is and marriage is just not an issue to me. But lately, it has been on my mind.

So I am not sure when yet, but I have some of the how’s and where’s figured out. It will definitely be at Santeetlah Creek. I want Bryan there, Chris’ best friend from MI, but not sure he will be able to make it. That alone makes me sad. I like Bryan…A LOT! The “honeymoon” will also be at Santeetlah. Spent in a tent away from the world…well except for the world of the wilderness surrounding Santeetlah. Druid Clergy will perform the ceremony. I have one in particular I am leaning towards. I don’t want a lot of people there. My daughters and grandkids, as much of Chris’ family as can be there, Joanna my friend, Bryan….I really want him there and that is pretty much it. No clue on theme, dress, food, or even a date yet.

Chris and I began talking on those other forums, then IM, then phone and such over 2 years ago now. February 2005. He sold his house and moved down here June 5, 2005. He proposed in September 2005. So much of how we began was played out on the forums in front of our online friend (well and a whole lot behind the scenes as well). It seems only natural that I would want to include that some way in the actual ceremony. So….for the details I KNOW I want I have made. For things I need to make decisions on and get opinions on, my heart pulls me back to where it all began….on a forum with our online friends. Therefore….these next few months I will be asking for ideas, opinions, votes on dresses and themes and things of that nature and want all of you to be a part of that special day in our lives. That….is what this thread will be used for.

Now if I can just figure out a date!

January 27th 2005 a member of one of the forums I used to frequent posted something about soul transference. The discussion was fine, but when it came to actually posting the “how to” of the matter that became a grey area within the rule set. So I offered to host those documents on my webpage (the 29th). This wasn’t really anything new for me, as I was generally on the lookout for something that qualified as a “good deed”. That member and I exchanged a few PM’s and once I got it hosted, I all but forgot about the incident.

In one of my random good deed moods a few days after that I checked who was online and then checked to see who was using YAHOO so I could make a new friend via an instant messaging service. The only member on at the time with YAHOO (other then me) was someone named BrokenIris. I thought about it for a moment, recalled where I knew that name from (I hosted her documents) and then sent her a message. That message was sent on February 8th 2005, and on the 9th we talked on the phone. Over the next few months we’d do a lot more talking, and by a lot, I mean that if we were charged night and weekend minutes on our cell phones, we’d be paying thousands.

As we talked we got as close as any two people could on such a long distance relationship, so we decided to close that 5 state gap a bit by having me move down. On May 10th I closed on my house, and on June 3rd I unplugged my computer for longer then it’s been off in nearly 10 years… The following day I headed out for what would be a 12 hour trip to move in with someone I’ve never actually seen in person before.

Around 7:30 that evening I pulled into Hardies to grab a bite and to call Forest Breath to let her know I was in town. She arrived shortly after that so I could follow her to her place (and not get lost on these crazy backroads). When me met, there was no awkward silence, only a hug (a story book hug) and massive amounts of pressure released as we both knew THIS WAS RIGHT!

The following September we headed back up to Michigan to visit my friends and family. One of the things I needed to do was to close my bank account with my “just in case fund” as at this point there would be no need for it. So I had my mother talk Forest Breath out as I hung out with my Ex-wife (heh, he’s one of my best friends now, so it’s not what you think). She swung me by the bank, then to a jeweler so I could buy these rings…

A few days later on the 21st I got down on my knee and proposed to the woman that I’ve loved more then anyone else, ever, and my love grows daily…

Congratulations Chris & Cyndi !

I met my second husband online too . I saw his posts which intrigued me on Renee Coopers Spirit Web back in 1994 .That was one of the first magick sites and the web seemed a bit smaller and friendlier then . We began emailing each other and soon we spent twice a day in chats on IRC . I lived in USA and Robert Bruce lived in Australia . He projected to my home . I shifted to Australia and we married in 1996 . Billy was born in 97 and though we soon divorced ,he is still a good friend . He changed my life for the better and I believe in internet romance very much . Robert has been an inspiration and a mentor to me .

It is hard to believe that you two have only been together a few years . You seem to have known each other for so long .When I met Q on OF he was already smitten and fascinated with Cindi . That was in 2005 .

I think handfasting is a lovely blessing for a relationship . Since you are just preparing plans , I suggest a hand embroidered silk to handfast you outdoors and barefoot in the full moon . You can have special symbols embroidered into the silk with any cokour of floss and this will make a lovely personalised keepsake for your altar later .
I also suggest a circle keepsake made from fallen branches and flowers suitable for drying that you gather together . My daughter made me one from a walk she took through the woods with friends at art camp . It is ten years old now and still very cherished . She made a God's eye dreamcatcher in the center of it and gently bent fallen branches to form a large circle which makes a magickal wall hanging .

This year there will be 3 full moons in 4 months and this will make the Blue moon occur so that some people will have it in May some in June and some in July . I think the full moon between June and July would be an awesomely romantic time to begin .

Mead was used in Ireland as the honey wine from which we get the term honey moon . It was given to the couple one month before the wedding .
Bunratty Mead is excellent and very inexpensive .They also make potcheen

Why not braid your magick into the nuptials and have a couple only moon ceremony on the blue moon and a sun ceremony for family a month later ?

It is not the money spent but the energy spent that counts and the magick and love that comes out . All the sentimental romance is special and very worthwhile . As are photos . I regret spending money on anything else but that .

Oh well ....Just some suggestions . I love weddings !

May the Gods and the Goddesses continue to bless your union and may they keep you and yours in the light ! Slainte

The first piece of advice I have is to plan your budget. Everthing else you do will be based on how much money you have to spend. Next, you should buy the book Magickal Weddings by Joy Ferguson. I'm sorry to send you to Amazon for this, but I can't find an online Pagan bookstore that sells it. If you're willing to wait I suggest you visit your local Pagan/Occult shop and ask them to order a copy for you Then, you should pick a date. We picked Midsummer (Summer Solstice, June 21st)....

Confabulations to the happy couple! I watched on the on-line story of your relationship as you both discussed it developing on that other forum and on this one, and I think it's wonderful that the two of you found each other and have been able to build the love and trust that's necessary to make that kind of commitment to one another. I wish you many happy years together.

As romantic as Aunt Clair's marriange by moonlight sounds, I'd suggest a daytime wedding in your sacred grove. Let Mother Earth and Father Sun bless your wedding, and let the Moon Goddess and the Green Man bless the more private part of the joining. As for wedding clothes, are there any good Renaissance Faires in your area? They'd probably have just what you'd want for the occasion.

http://www.chivalry.com/cantaria/lyrics/humours.html has an excelent song about Poteen, though the version by Andy M. Steweart is MUCH MUCH better.

I have been looking at dresses and have decided to make my own dress. I am looking at styles and such and actually have the skill to pull one off without even having a pattern, I can make my own pattern. So....if you all see any cool looking dresses out there.....definately Renaissance...post the pics. I will eventually choose about 5 designs and then get everyone's opinions from those...

I certainly need to concentrate on a date. I wanted this Fall but I feel if I can wait til next Spring....maybe Bryan can really be there.

Thank you everyone for the links and the congrats. You all are so very sweet and that is exactly why I wanted to include everyone in this.
